SUMMARY:Girls On The Run In Nebraska
DESCRIPTION:GOTR-Nebraska offers after-school programming that combines exercise\, education\, mentoring and "Girl Power" to promote healthy habits and self-esteem in young girls. Using a fun\, experience-based curriculum\, the program creatively integrates running to inspire third- through sixth-grade girls to be joyful\, healthy and confident. Not only does GOTR get girls (and their coaches\, families and Run Buddies) moving   GOTR arms them with the tools to address challenges like\, including gossip\, bullying\, making healthy choices\, and  standing up for themselves and others. \n\n \n\nSince its inception with 11 girls in 2003\, GOTR-Nebraska has grown to serve more than 15\,100 girls across the state. Last school year\, some 1\,900 third- through sixth-grade made friends and had fun as they trained to complete one of five regional GOTR 5Ks in the state.\n\n \n\nNext spring\, GOTR-Nebraska will host regional GOTR 5Ks in Kearney\, O'Neill\, York and Chadron. We anticipate 300 registered runners (GOTR girls\, their family members\, their coaches and community runners) at the Kearney 5K\, with another 300 spectators on the sidelines to cheer their loved ones on the course. \n\n \n\nThe regional GOTR 5K celebrations are family-oriented and fun-filled events for GOTR participants\, and it's the perfect occasion to showcase Kearney area businesses to hundreds of families in central Nebraska. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity as a sponsor for $250. In return\, your company name/logo will be featured on the back of all regional 5K shirts and in 5K literature to parents.\n\n \n\nFinancial and in-kind donations from our community sponsors enable Girls on the Run of Nebraska to secure materials\, screen and train volunteers\, improve outreach to underserved populations and provide financial aid to ensure that all girls have the chance to participate in this transformational program.
