Admission and Student Teaching Approval Coordinator, Teacher Educator Certification Office
Individuals in this classification are responsible for admitting students to Teacher Education, approving student teacher applications, and managing student teaching placements. Serving as the point person for students, faculty, cooperating educators, and school administrators, the individual in this position has knowledge of Nebraska policies and strong communication skills. The employee also ensures data is collected for annual accreditation reports. The ability to work independently and interpret data is vital. Advanced technology skills, especially with Microsoft products, is important to aid in managing and sharing data.
Technical expertise in several applications is required, some of which require advanced skills. Serves as primary contact for imaging software, which includes training others, troubleshooting, and answering questions. Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word. Creates and maintains multiple Qualtrics surveys.
- Evaluates applications and approves students into Teacher Education and student teaching, which includes maintaining and interpreting data in MyBlue, spreadsheets, and Qualtrics. Contacts students with admission status. Serves as point person for students and faculty advisors.
- Coordinates and manages data related to student teaching, which includes contracts, multiple spreadsheets, which requires advanced Excel skills, teacher candidate placements, and supervisor caseloads. Serves as point person for students, cooperating educators, supervisors, and school administrators. Applies Nebraska Department of Education Rule 20, Rule 21, and Rule 24 pertaining to student teaching. Assists with the planning and execution of Student Teaching Professional Development Days and Supervisor Training Workshop, including processing financials. Familiarity with Nebraska schools is important.

- General office duties, such as daily opening and closing the office, answering phones and assisting walk-in traffic. Keeps office orderly and professional. Trains and supervises student workers. Collaborates with other COE OAs and the COE dean’s administrative associate to assist with other duties and responsibilities from other departments.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong general computer skills, and effective oral and written communication. Essential attributes include excellent organizational, professional, and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to confidentiality and reliability. The ability to work independently and interpret data is also required
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or 5 years office experience is preferred. Experience with imaging software and previous employment at a university or college are highly valued. We are seeking candidates with office associate experience or a strong equivalent background in education and experience that has cultivated comparable knowledge and abilities. Experience with imaging software, Qualtrics, Microsoft (MS) products, and AI is a plus.
