KEARNEY, NE, August 15, 2025 -- Each year, a select few appraisers of the American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) try to obtain their Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation. This process is extensive with multiple requirements, such as 118 hours of advanced coursework, five years of experience in the discipline of appraisal, and a review of completed appraisals. The applicant must also be a Certified General Appraiser of any state within the United States, be an ASFMRA member, and complete a comprehensive ARA Accrediting exam. Less than 1% of Certified General Appraisers in the United States hold the ARA designation.
We are proud to announce that Michael Wilken, ARA, of Agri Affiliates, Inc., is now an Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) through the ASFMRA. An appraiser who has received the ARA designation has trained and demonstrated through a comprehensive and intensive process the knowledge and skills to successfully administer appraisal work of any complexity. Michael Wilken, ARA, has achieved these standards and has proven his expertise.
Michael completed his licensing requirements under the Nebraska Real Estate Commission in 2019 to become a Real Estate Salesperson, and in 2022, Michael completed licensing requirements under the Nebraska Real Estate Appraisal Board to become a Certified General Appraiser. He also earned the distinguished ASFMRA Early Career Award in 2024 and successfully obtained his ARA in the summer of 2025. Wilken joined Agri Affiliates, Inc. in 2020 and works in Kearney, NE, but executes real estate assignments throughout Nebraska and Kansas.
